Who is Dana Ahmedani?
My name is Dana Ahmedani and I live in Brighton Michigan. I have been working with students with special needs, including students with Autism, since 2006. I started working with students with disabilities because I wanted to help that population of students become more successful. While working with many different students with many different disabilities, I felt intrigued by students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I wanted to learn more about how to reach these students more effectively and have a better understanding of how to help them become more successful learners. I started working on my Masters in Special Education with an Autism Endorsement and I have 16 credits under my belt. I have worked with elementary students in the Resource setting, Inclusive and pullout. Currently, I am substitute teaching. I mostly substitute in the special education elementary classrooms in the Brighton Area Schools and the Howell Public school districts.
What does this website have to offer?
This site can help parents, teacher, family members or other staff learn about working with children with autism spectrum disorder. Throughout this site you will find parent resources, information on inclusion and working with general education teachers. Also included on this webpage are different treatment interventions and assessments used with individuals with ASD. The more that we know about autism and everything that surrounds it, the better equipped we will be at helping the ones we know that are affected by this disorder. Knowledge is power!
